For the second consecutive day, the Super Division football league tie was abandoned in the second-half, with Electronics and Radar Development Establishment (LRDE), trailing by two goals against Postal, refusing to continue, complaining of unplayable conditions at the Bangalore Football Stadium on Monday.
The Bangalore District Football Association (BDFA) committee will take a decision on the match in the coming days.
According to BDFA sources, both teams had agreed to play on the ground that is now nothing less than a muddy field due to heavy rains over the last week.
The match started with Postal leading the charge while LRDE failed to create any decent moves, mainly due to the slushy turf in the rival half. Postal put the opponent defenders under pressure early on and only poor shooting denied them a goal in the early minutes. They deservingly went into the lead in the 25th minute when Einstein on the left flank found Gubendran inside the box, who did the rest in style.

LRDE tested rival goalkeeper Ravindran for the first time in the 33rd minute but Mahendran’s drive was wayward.
Five minutes later, the match was stopped for about seven minutes as LRDE players refused to play on the slippery field.
After the break, the tide turned in favour of LRDE as they raided the opponent box frequently. In fact, in the 47th minute, Mahindran managed to turn one in, but the strike was nullified by an off-side call.
Another interruption, for about eight minutes, came in the 61st minute when LRDE again protested about the conditions.
Chances dried out substantially for Postal in the second session when their forwards struggled in the slippery turf in the LRDE area. However, in the 76th minute, they managed to find their second goal when an unmarked Arun Pandy slotted in a long-ranger.
Thereafter, LRDE refused to play with captain and goalkeeper Antony leading the way. Disappointed by the outcome, some of the spectators threw chairs onto the ground. Moments later, referee Kabilan went for the final whistle.
Meanwhile, BDFA has postponed the Super Division and ‘A’ Division matches for the next two days due to bad ground conditions.
Other result: ‘A’ Division: Government Press: 4 (Prem Kumar 20th, Vijaya Babu 70th, 74th, Antony Benedict 90th) bt Universal: 1 (Raju 21st).
