Reshma moves into title round

 Reshma Karthik is in line for a double as she entered the under-13 and 16 girls’ finals of the Mysore Sandal State-ranking badminton tournament at the IAS Officers courts here on Monday.

Reshma breezed past A J Divya 21-7, 21-3 in the under-16 semifinals to set up a title clash with Uttara Prakash, who knocked out Sindhu Bharadwaj 21-9, 21-7 in the other semifinal.

Reshma then defeated Mira Mahadevan 21-12, 21-11 in the under-13 last-four tie.

Reshma will take on Sindhu Bharadwaj in the final.

In the other semifinal, Sindhu made amends for her loss to Uttara by beating Priya Prakash 21-15, 21-13.

B Vishwanath Kiran and M C Srivas won the under-13 doubles title while Chirag L U and Sai Praneeth emerged champions in the under-16 doubles event. Vishwanath and Srivas beat Sudeep Suresh and K V Rakshith 21-11, 24-26, 21-16 in the final.

Meanwhile, Abhishek S and Linganand topped in the under-10 doubles event posting a 21-15, 20-22, 21-7 win over M Raghu and Mithun Manjunath.

Results: Boys:  U-16 (semifinals): Jayanth Gowda bt K Akshay 21-9, 21-11; R N Suraj bt Saipraneeth 21-17, 21-18.

Doubles (final): Chirag L U/ Saipraneeth bt G K Ashwin/ K Akshay 21-15, 21-16.

U-13 (semifinals): M C Srivas bt K V Rakshith 21-12, 21-11; Sudeep Suresh bt B Vishwanath Kiran 21-13 (retd). Doubles (final): B Vishwanath Kiran/ M C Srivas bt Sudeep Suresh/ K V Rakshith 21-11, 24-26, 21-16.

U-10 (semifinals): Mithun Manjunath bt Nirmit Kaushik 21-6, 21-5; Abhishek S bt S Vignesh 21-15, 16-21, 21-15.
Doubles (final): Abhishek S/ Linganand bt Mithun Manjunath/ M Raghu  21-15, 20-22, 21-7.

Girls (semifinals):
U-16: Reshma Karthik bt A J Divya 21-7, 21-3; Uttara Prakash bt Sindhu Bharadwaj 21-9, 21-7.

U-13: Reshma Karthik bt Mira Mahadevan 21-12, 21-11; Sindhu Bharadwaj bt Priya Prakash 21-15, 21-13.
