Pankaj Advani, Nagesh Hegde, 49 others to get State awards

 The Kannada and Culture department has released the list of 51 personalities selected for the prestigious Rajyotsava award for the year 2007. Among those in the list are Parvathamma Rajkumar, cine actor Ananth Nag, journalist TJS George, cartoonist Ponnappa, sports personality Pankaj Advani, environmentalists Nagesh Hegde, and G T Narayana Rao .

The awardees have been selected by the selection committee headed by poet Dr G S Shivarudrappa.
Kannada and Culture Department secretary I M Vittalmurthy said there were about 552 applications for the award.

The list prepared by the selection committee has been approved by the governor, with a few modifications.
The award comprises 20 grams of gold as well as a memento.

Governor Rameshwar Thakur will present the awards at Ravindra Kalakshetra, at 6.30 p m on November 1.
