After a meeting with the senior Congress leaders at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall here, Mr Kharge remarked that BJP and JD(S) leaders have again forged alliance as they are hankering after power. “It is merely their lust for power that has brought them together. With this childish move, no good will happen to the state”, he opined.
Under the Constitution there was no scope for allowing the two parties to form the government as they have already submitted letters seeking the dissolution of the Assembly.
Replying to a query, Mr Kharge declined to reiterate his party’s stand on the current political development. “We are watching the situation and waiting for the return of our leaders from China, either tonight or tomorrow. We will apprise the high command of the developments and go by its direction”, he added.
Contrary to the stand taken by him earlier, Mr Kharge said that his party would not seek dissolution of the Assembly.
Asked whether his party supports the stand taken by senior JD(S) leader M P Prakash, Mr Kharge declined to comment saying, “their stand will be made known on Tuesday after discussions with the high command”.
