The environment programme organised by DHiE concluded on a cheerful note at St Joseph’s Indian High School auditorium in the City on Tuesday. The programme, spread across four days, was witnessed by 2,700 students.

“On an average, 12-15 schools participated in each show, which brings a day’s total to around 45,” said S V Srinivasan, Assistant General Manager-Circulation, Deccan Herald. He said the objective was to “sensitise students to various environment-related issues”.

The programme offered tips to “make Bangalore a cleaner city”. Questions like how to save water at home and how to segregate waste were addressed. Also included was an audio-visual presentation on water harvesting.
A quiz was conducted to test the knowledge levels of children. It threw up interesting bits of information such as the fact that “Sirsa Tiger Reserve in Bihar has no tigers”. Gopi Madhav, resource person, Deccan Herald, conducted it.

“The show was very interesting, I have learnt a lot,” said Prachi Bajaj, a student of Delhi Public School. S Muthammal, headmistress of Oxford High School, said: “ The programme was educative and informative.” Her student Abhijit S,  said: “ I will start water harvesting at home.”
