Churchill Brothers of Goa trounced Bangalore's Hindustan Aeronautics Sports Club (HASC) 4-1 in the opening match of the main round of the 120th Durand Cup football tournament here on Tuesday.
Captain Odafe Onyeka Okolic pumped in all four goals (14th, 55th, 79th, 86th minutes) to ground the Bangalore outfit, for whom Bimal Minz scored the consolation goal in the 66th minute.
Okolic opened the scoring in the 14th minute. The Goans led 1-0 at the half-time and doubled the lead 11 minutes after the breather via a penalty kick taken by Okolic.
A brilliant solo effort from Minz helped the Bangalore outfit reduce the margin.
Minz's effort was not enough as in the last 10 minutes, HASC looked like a tired lot.
Okolic simply toyed with their defence and struck twice more to round off the tally and the lop-sided the entertainment.
