The confidence and exuberance displayed by these twelve students from the second and third tire cities of Karnataka at the Rural IT Quiz on Tuesday would have easily given even the best minds from the IIM and IIT a run for their money.
The twelve students from small cities and towns like Bijapur, Gokak, Shimoga, Kolar, Mandya and Udupi answered the most difficult questions in the field of IT, leaving the audience stunned at the IT Quiz, which is conducted as part of the BangaloreIT.in 2007. The event conducted for students from Standard 8 to 12 this year saw a record participation of 12 lakh students, of which six teams comprising these 12 students battled it out at the State finals.The quiz began with the first round on ‘ Topology’- a software powered round with an interactive crossword, ‘ Domain Expertise’, where the quizzing software would provide a grid of topics to choose from, ‘ Ping’- a rapid fire round, ‘ Experience Certainty’, a connect round where teams had to piece together the visual and audio clues and and ‘ Bandwidth’- a three clue round about companies, personalities and products.
Finally, it was Nitish B and Rajath V S from Sri Arubindo PU College, Shimoga who emerged victorious edging out Merly Likhita Lewis and Anushree N from Little Rock, Udupi and Kriti YC and Sneha V from Carmel Convent, Mandya who emerged as the runners- up and second runners-up respectively.
The final round saw a stiff competition between the two girls team but it was the Little Rock team that emerged victorious in the tie-breaker to take the second spot.
