Jnanpeeth awardees U R Ananthamurthy and Girish Karnad, writers Devanur Mahadeva, K Marulasiddappa, K B Siddaiah, Indudhar Honnapura and others met Governor Rameshwar Thakur at Raj Bhavan in the evening and held talks for nearly two hours.
In the present political situation, number is not an important factor. Both the BJP and the JD(S) have lost the moral right to come together again and form a government. People no longer trust both parties, they said in the memorandum. Speaking to reporters after meeting the Governor, Devanur Mahadeva warned that the like-minded people will come together and take up a State-wide agitation if both parties form the Government. A non-cooperation movement will also be launched, he added.“People of Karnataka have become a laughing stock of the country due to dirty political drama. We have not been able to show our face outside the State. Hence, we have urged the Governor to protect the dignity of the State,” he said.
However, several film personalities came to the rescue of B S Yeddyurappa. In the evening, a delegation of film personalities associated with the BJP reached Raj Bhavan and submitted a memorandum to the Governor requesting him to invite B S Yeddyurappa to form the government.
The delegation comprised MLC and actor Srinath, director S Mahendar and actors Saikumar and Abhijit.
