KPTCL Managing Director, Bharat Lal Meena on Tuesday said the billing process in all escoms have been made into a transparent process, so that any consumer could log on to the database of the distribution company, to get an history of the customer’s bill.
Speaking at the inauguration of the National Conference on Distribution Automation, organised by the Power Grid Corporation of India, Mr Bharat Lal Meena said there was a time in the erstwhile KEB when acceptability of computerisation was poor.
Spot billing
“But today a system of spot billing has been introduced to ensure maximum efficiency. Distribution of power has also been automated using information technology on a large scale. Bescom has also introduced an automated process with funding from the Japan Bank for International Co-operation,” Mr Bharat Lal Meena said.
A model
He then added that the KPTCL should be a model for other states to follow in following best practices.” The responsibility of providing efficient service to end-consumers is in the hands of our engineers. We have also successfully introduced energy accounting at distribution transformer level in urban areas to help identify faulty meters and assessing revenue losses,” the KPTCL chief noted.
Director of Power Grid Corporation A K Tripathy said, the CPRI has been contributing to the distribution process through its meter testing services at its laboratories and has also put in place, a futuristic protocol testing laboratory at New Delhi.
