Website to help disabled get jobs planned
DH News Service,Bangalore:

Principal Secretary to Department of Women and Child Development Dr Shalini Rajneesh on Tuesday said that the State government has conducted house-to-house survey of disabled persons, which will serve as a database for the department for providing various facilities including pensions.

Speaking at the inauguration of the three-day national symposium on ‘Sexual empowerment of disabled women in  India,’ she said that an interactive website will be initiated to monitor the status of the survey.

She also said that the department is planning to start a new website like naukri.com along with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to help the disabled to get jobs depending on their skills.

The department has also enabled disabled persons to get disability certificate at taluk level and primary health centres, she said. Further, Ms Shalini added that the department has written to the Universities to include disabilities studies in the curriculum.

The symposium was organised by Society for Disability and Rehabilitation Studies in association with National Association for the Blind.

The symposium witnessed more than 100 eminent academicians, experts, professionals and disability right activists participating in it.
