Deputy District Commissioner Subhodh Yadav announced the estimated loss in the district because rain on Thursday. The losses have been put at Rs 14,62,87, 000.
Speaking at the meet to survey the crop loss in the city, he also added that 6 people had lost their lives during the rains beside the damage to property.
“ Sixteen animals have died and and about Rs 13,92,8000 worth crops have been destroyed from about 625 acres of land. Thirty five houses have collapsed and a loss of Rs 11.5 lakhs has been estimated.” said the official.
Rs 10.8 crores is the reported figure for the losses due to damage to roads and lakes belonging to Zilla Panchayat engineering department.
In Gowribidnur, Chikkaballapur and Gudibande the losses are approximately about Rs 68 lakh in the small scale water irrigation project.
The losses connected to the power department is about Rs12 lakh while the water shed department has reported a loss of Rs 20 lakh. The roads that fall under the jurisdiction of Chintamani municipal council have estimated a loss of Rs 61 lakh.Crops worth Rs 38 lakh have been lost from 81 acres of land.
He also made it compulsory for the taluk officials to report all facts and figures of the property loss and compensation amount from their areas to their respective taluk tahasildhars.
He added that he would making a recommendation to the government to release an amount of Rs 3 lakh to families of the 6 people who died and Rs 1.8 lakh to the families that lost animals.
