He was speaking at a meeting held on easing traffic movement in the City and also about the City bus stands, at his office.
He said, as an immediate measure, the Mahatma Gandhi Road would be widened to facilitate the movement of all the State Transport Corporation buses to the new bus stand.
All the encroachments on the road would be cleared. All the new buses which would be plying from the new bus stand to the old bus stand would be going via the Zilla Panchayat office.
Vehicle parking
Vehicle parking in front of the District Court and the Assistant Commissioner’s office would henceforth be not allowed. And even in the old bus stand, not more than two buses would be allowed to wait, the deputy commissioner said.
Cars are being parking in front of Sir M V Library in the City. For the last three days, the office-bearers of the Car Drivers Association have been informed not to park their cars there.
The police officials had been instructed not to allow tempos and buses which had obtained CC permit into the old and the new bus stands, he informed the meeting.
Measures had been taken to clear all the small shops and kiosks around the old bus stand.
The Commissioner of the City Municipal Council had been asked to collect information about these shops, before evicting them, the DC said.
Mr Subhodh Yadav also informed that measures would be taken to clear the transport vehicles, which are parked on the footpath on B B Road in the City. The present footpaths would be reduced and space would be created for the parking of vehicles.
Dividers
The footpaths on B B Road would be cleared. It was decided that on both M G Road and B B Road, dividers would be installed between the roads and also grills would be installed to the footpaths. Suggestions of the representatives of the various associations and organisations who were present at the meeting was also sought on the occasion.
President of the Zilla Panchayat Chickkanarasaiah, Zilla Panchayat member Obalappa, District Superintendent of Police Krishna Bhat, Head Quarter’s Assistant to the Deputy Commissioner Kulkarni, Tahsildar Purnima and other officials were present on the occasion.
