“The congress is closely monitoring the whole power transfer scenario. We will take a decision at the appropriate time.” said former minister and permanent invitee to the AICC working committee, Dr G Parameshwar.
He was speaking after felicitating the the winners of the municipal elections from the Congress party and those who contested as independents after being denied a ticket from the party
He said that the political scenario in the state is at cross roads and that the Congress will take a decision on the matter after the JD(S) and BJP make their stand clear.
Eight members who were denied the B form by the Congress for the elections and contested it as independents are back in the party. To remain in the election race, these candidates stood as independents and won the election and rejoined the party in the presence of the Dr G Parameshwar.
Congress in power
This has helped the Congress to stake its claim for power in the Madhugiri Municipal as it now has 18 members in the 23 member council.
Dr Parameshwar also assured the prodigal members of party that they would not be sidelined and would treated just the same as before and like everyone else.
He also called on the new elected members to take full advantage of the monetary funds that released under the Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Development Fund to make Madhugiri town a model for the other Municipals to emulate.
Former president of the Municipal R S Vijaya Kumar Jain, M K Nanjundaiaha, K Prakash, B V Nagaraj, M G Srininvas Murthy, P C Krishna Reddy, Rajgopal, Sriramaiaha and others also spoke on the occasion.
