“It is very important that the primary school students develop a sense of self-esteem, self-respect, and self-identity to become a rounded citizen of the country” said S C Manjunath, lecturer at the District teachers’ training centre.
He was speaking after inaugurating the National Teen red Ribbon Club at Nagavalli Government Pu College near Tumkur.
Teachers’ role
He opined that every teacher had an important role to play in their students’ life to help them develop these qualities that were required to become a good human being. He added that these qualities form the foundation for the youngsters to build their value system. This would in turn guide through the testing times and the trials and tribulations that life would throw at them.
Principled being
“It is only the a person with strong principals who is able to contribute towards a healthy society” he said.
“The youth today face dangerous health challenges including HIV and Aids. They have to take up the issue and debate upon it seriously.”
Dangers in society
“They also have under stand the dangers of a promiscuous life and the importance of the a healthy living” he added.
Positive mind-set
He urged the children to develop a positive frame of mind and imbibe the qualities of love and affection. He also reminded the parents to understand their role in the scope of things and told them to educate their children about the wholesome goodness of life.
The programme was presided over by the College principal Chandrashekar. Senior faculty S Puttaiaha was also present at the occasion.
