Unprecedented Reception To Nehru
Tokyo, Oct. 4.
Japanese Police, with lantern in their hands, had to maintain order when surging crowds pressed forward to greet India’s Prime Minister Nehru as his car sped across the twelve-mile route from Tokyo airport to the Guest House in the city.
In the fading light as Prime Minister Nehru’s plane landed in the evening, he was received by a huge gathering of Japanese and Indians, led by Prime Minister Kishi, as never before seen in the island’s history.
‘Huge Profits Possible In India’
New York, Oct. 4.
Mr T T Krishnamachari, India’s Finance Minister, said today that some leading enterprises operating in India made profits after taxes which were two to three times as high as those made by enterprises in West Germany.
Mr Krishnamachari, who has had a series of talks with US and Canadian officials and New York financial circles, today addressed the Far Eastern conference.

Centre To Refer J&K Bill To SC

New Delhi, Oct. 4.
Prime Minister Indira Gandhi announced in Parliament today that the Centre had decided to refer the controversial Jammu and Kashmir Resettlement Bill to the Supreme Court for its opinion.
The Jammu and Kashmir Grant of Permit for Resettlement in (or Permanent Return to) the State Bill, 1980”, was re-adopted by the State Legislature today, as originally passed by it. The Bill has been returned to the Assembly by the Governor for reconsideration.
