MUSIC

Vocal recital
Indiranagar Sangeetha Sabha is organising a vocal recital by Vidushi Jayanthi Rangarajan on October 6 at Purandara Bhavana, 8th Main Road, HAL Second Stage at 6 pm. She will be accompanied by Raghavendra Rao (violin), Madipakkam Suresh (mrudangam) and S N Narayanamurthy (ghatam).

Sarod recital
There is a morning concert by Pandit Rajeev Taranath, on the occasion of his 75th birthday on October 7 at 9.30 am at Smriti Nandan Cultural Centre, Nanda Deep,15/3, Palace Road. He will be accompanied by Sohan Nilkanth (sarod) and Sujit Mukherjee (tabla).

Memorial music
A Smruthi Sangeeth is being organised in memory of Ustad Abdul Quadar Khan Sahab (sarangi) and Pandit Basavaraj Bendigeri (tabla) on October 6 at 4.30 pm at Bhoomika Sabhangana,17th Cross, Malleshwaram. The following artists will perform - Master Dilip, Balaji, Akshaya Natarajan (tabla trio), T Radhakrishnan (sitar), Soudamini Venkatesh (vocal), Gopalakrishna Hegde (tabla solo). The accompanying artistes are: Vyasamurthy Katti and Satish Kolli (harmonium), Nissar Ahmed and Shashibhushan Gurjar (tabla).

Cassette release
As a part of its fourth anniversary the Sangeetha Dhama Music Academy, J P Nagar is felicitating well-known flautist Pandit Venkatesh Godkhindi at H N Kalakshetra in Jayanagar 6th Block on October 6 at 5.30 pm.  “Raaga-Rangu”, a light music cassette based on well known Kannada literatteur Prof Doddarangegowda’s poems will also be released on that day. Naturescapes

Painting exhibition
Lakhsna and Bhoomi, the Centre for Artists is presenting, “Bull”, an exhibition of paintings and drawings by Paramesh D Jolad from September 30 to October 19 from 10 am to 7 pm at Lakshana Art Gallery, 29/2, Race Course Road.

DANCE

Solo dance
Natyatharanga is organising a solo Bharatanatyam performance by Mudra Dhananjay at Nayana, Kannada Bhavan, J C Road on October 6 at 3 pm.


THEATRE

Play on cinema
Sri Parthasarathy Swamy Sabha is presenting Geethanjali’s (Chennai) latest play by cine and TV-fame artistes Venkat, ‘Siritthalum Kanneer Varum’ on October 7 at 7 pm at Thirumala Vidya Niketan Hall (Behind Chowdaiah Memorial Hall).

Play on cinema
