A dream come true
The most important thing to contribute to society, is the will to do so. And a group of youngsters in the City have just done that.
An article in these columns carried recently, has helped a group of young enthusiastic volunteers reach out to more children in the City’s slums and give them a chance to get an education. “When we started our project, we had a little over 20 children enrolled in it. But now, the project ‘Bacche Mann Ke Sacche’, has reached out to 58 students who have been enrolled in various schools. Through education these kids will get an access to fulfill their dreams and make their parents feel proud of them. Tomorrow these children will grow up and spread the knowledge gained through their education to society. Ultimately, they will become successful and responsible citizens of India. That is our aim,” said Sunil Kumar, a key coordinator for the group. The group of volunteers, also introduced another project to hone musical talent. Aptly titled ‘Sur Tarang’ the group has already organised singing competitions for children from three ashrams in the City. This Sunday, October 7, from 9 am to 1 pm, the group will be celebrating the success of these two projects. “On this day we will welcome students to the world of education and inculcate in them and their family members the value of education. Also, we will create a platform for kids selected in the preliminary rounds to exhibit their talent in singing,” said Sunil.
The event is being held at the Ganesh Bagh, Infantry Road, opp The Hindu. For details call: 99021-07107/ 99002-16731/ 98860-10328.
