Homoeopathy awareness camp
The Homoeopathic Self Reliance Forum (HSRF), a voluntary service organisation conducted a three-day Homoeopathic awareness camp from September 30 to October 2 at the DRDO Township in CV Raman Nagar which 70 people attended.
Homoeopathic doctors Prachi Karandikar, Sarika and Padmasri gave lectures on homoeopathic medicines. Besides these qualified doctors other hobby homoeopaths also shared their experiences and spoke about different medicines and their characteristics. This was the 113th such awareness camp that the HSRF conducted since its establishment in 1987 at Bangalore apart from 60 seminars.
Create better awareness
PV Sathyanarayana, HSRF founder president who organised the programme said that it is necessary to demystify homoeopathy and make people aware about its broad principles otherwise it would lose out like Ayurveda. Sathyanarayana said Hippocrates, the father of medicine, highlighted that diseases can be cured in two ways namely, through medicines which can oppose the disease symptoms or allopathy, and those which imitate the disease symptoms or homoeopathy. Once people use homoeopathy as first aid and to cure minor ailments it would help to popularise the system of medicine, he added.
Sathyanarayana said individuals should be self reliant in healthcare especially in an era of escalating medical expenditure. Today the problem is that even educated people are ignorant about the benefits of homoeopathy in terms of side effects and costs.
The camp provided awareness about the art and science of homoeopathy to develop capability to manage one's own and a family's day to day health problems at a minimum cost. The HSRF, apart from free treatment to people, also provides newly qualified homoeopaths an excellent platform to hone their clinical skills in classical homoeopathy.
