Philippines President Gloria Arroyo arrived here on Thursday night on a three-day state visit during which she will hold talks with the top leadership to enhance bilateral relations.
Arroyo, who is accompanied by seven cabinet ministers and a 41-member business delegation, was welcomed by Minister of State for Defence M M Pallam Raju.
During her visit, Arroyo will hold bilateral discussions on various issues with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
The two countries will sign a declaration to jointly fight international terrorism and a memorandum on enhanced cooperation in the field of renewable energy.
Bilateral ties
A declaration on the framework of bilateral cooperation and a memoranda to enhance ties between the two countries are also expected to be inked during the visit.
The Philippines President will call on President Pratibha Patil who will host a banquet in the honour of the visiting dignitary on Friday.
Vice President Hamid Ansari and External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee will also call on Gloria Arroyo.
A 41-member business delegation will attend a Business Forum organised by FICCI.
Memoranda of understanding (MoU) on Cooperation between the Foreign Services Institutes of India and the Phillipines, between the Exim Bank of India and the government of the Philippines on extension of a $15-million Line of Credit to the Philippines and another between the State Trading Corporation of India and the Philippines International Trading Corporation will also be signed by the two countries.
