Hamilton faces FIA probe
Formula One officials are investigating Lewis Hamilton’s victory at the Japanese Grand Prix, amid allegations that he engaged in improper driving, a FIA spokeswoman has said. Officials are reviewing video evidence suggesting Hamilton’s driving behind the safety car led to a crash that ended the race for Red Bull’s Mark Webber and Toro Rosso’s Sebastian Vettel.
Kerala crowned champions
Kerala bagged the overall championship of the XIX South Zone Junior athletics championships 2007 annexing 42 golds even as Tamil Nadu strongly protested saying they also had won equal number of gold medals, reports UNI from Puducherry.
Kerala finished with 42 gold medals while Tamil Nadu claimed they also won 42 golds.
Tamil Nadu team manager Parvathy said during a tie the number of silver medals should be taken into consideration for selecting the champions. In such a case TN had won more silver than Kerala, she claimed.
ICC accuses Hair of blackmail
International Cricket Council has accused Australian umpire Darrell Hair of “blackmailing” in an effort to reaching a financial settlement in the aftermath of The Oval controversy, an Employment Tribunal was told here, reports PTI from London. Michael Beloff, QC, representing the ICC, produced the emails Hair had sent to ICC in which he offered to resign for a one-off payment of USD 500,000.
Karnataka girls crush Rajasthan
PN Shruthi scored five goals as Karnatka thrashed Rajsthan 15-0 in the 37th Women’s National hockey championship on Thursday, reports PTI from Gwalior.

Australia’s spin wizard Shane Warne will lead a glittering All-Stars team comprising former West Indies captain Brian Lara, Indian stars Virender Sehwag and Anil Kumble, Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi and Zimbabwe’s Heath Streak in the Cathay Pacific-Standard Chartered Cricket Sixes’ tournament to be played in Hong Kong on October 27-28, reports UNI.

First meeting of IPL on Oct 18
The inaugural meeting of the Board of Control for Cricket in India-promoted USD 3 million prize-money Indian Premier (Twenty20) League’s Governing Council is to be held in Mumbai on October 18, reports PTI from Mumbai.
“This will be the first meeting of the IPL governing council. It’s a preliminary sitting,” a BCCI source said on Thursday.
