Kannada Book Authority has joined hands with organisers of Bangalore Pustakotsava 2007, scheduled to be held between October 12 and 21, to promote sales of Kannada books.

BSNL Open House Sessions
BSNL is organising Open House Sessions for consumers’ grievances redressal and suggestions at all the offices of Area Managers and Deputy General Manager (Rural) of BSNL, Bangalore Telecom District at 10 am on Saturday.

School bags’  distribution
Social Banking Cell, Canara Bank, Head Office distributed school bags to students of Government Primary School, Kembattahalli, Gottigere, Bangalore. Deputy General Manager, Canara Bank, Head Office, Bangalore, N Narasa Reddy, explained about Canchamp Scheme run by Canara Bank for poor students after distributing the bags.

Wildlife film festival
A three-day film festival on environment and wildlife, ‘Aranyam-2007’ began with the screening of internationally acclaimed film ‘Wild Dog Diaries’ and ‘Earth Calling - Episode Coorg’ at Guru Nanak Bhavan on Friday.

Documentaries and films on ‘climate chaos’ will be screened on October 6 from 10 am to 5 pm, followed by a panel discussion by eminent personalities on ‘Can Bangalore be a carbon neutral City?’. The last day of the festival will feature a workshop on Right to Information Act.

‘Miss Sadarame’ tomorrow
Samashti, an amateur theatre group, is staging a play Miss Sadarame of K V Subbanna, directed by Ninasam graduate Manjunath L Badiger at H N Kalakshetra, National College, Jayanagar VII Block at 7 pm on Sunday. Tickets are priced at Rs 30. Contact: 9845163380. 

Book fair from Oct 12
Kannada Book Authority has joined hands with organisers of Bangalore Pustakotsava 2007, scheduled to be held between October 12 and 21, to promote sales of Kannada books.

Authority Chairman Prof S G Siddaramaiah on Friday said that the organising committee had agreed to allocate 50 stalls of total 300 stalls for publishers of Kannada books.

Moreover, Kannada book publishers need to pay only Rs 7,000 as rent against Rs 12,000 for publishers in other regional languages and Rs 19,000 for publishers of English books. The Authority will pay Rs 1 lakh as subsidy to the organisers for providing space for Kannada books publishers at lesser rental prices.
