In the wake of the outbreak of gastroenteritis in Diamondhalli under the limits of Marikuppam village panchayat in Kolar Gold Fields, Tahsildar Nagaraj inspected the village on Thursday and asked the officials to take suitable cleanliness measures in the village.
Around two months back, gastroenteritis had surfaced in the village vowing to the consumption of polluted water by the people from a private borewell.
In a bizarre incident, almost all the borewells were polluted in this minority dominated village.
Lack of facilities
Drinking water problem, lack of drainage facilities and cleanliness were identified as the main problem by the Tahsildar during his inspection of the basic amenities in Diamondhalli village.
Assuring the people that drinking water problem will be solved in a week, the Tahsildar urged the village people to consume only boiled water and also cautioned them against the stagnation of polluted water in the surrounding areas.
Vaccination given
Advising the people not to consume food in open areas, taluk health officer Dr Bharathi vaccinated the village people and distributed medicines for the.
People should consume hot food as far as possible, Dr Bharathi cautioned. Later a cleanliness programme was taken up in the village. Allah Baksh village panchayat member symbolically sprayed the DDT.
