Russia Launches Earth Satellite
London, Oct. 5.
Russia’s Man-made moon was both seen and heard by official watchers and radio stations as it hurtled through outer space today at nearly 18,000 miles an hour or once round a earth every 95 minutes.
Mr Larry Ochs, head of the observatory team in Columbus, Ohio, reported having seen it through a telescope at 8:58 am (IST) today.
Nehru, Kishi Hold Discussions
Tokyo, Oct. 5.
Prime Minister Nehru and Japanese Premier, Mr Nobusuke Kishi concluded their second round of talks at the scenic mountain resort, Hakone, near here tonight.
The talks, were in continuation of those held on the “pressing problems of the day” for two hours at Mr Kishi’s residence here.

Sethi Rules Out Central Probe

New Delhi, Oct. 5.
Union Home Minister PC Sethi today ruled out a Central probe into the Meerut riots saying that law and order was a State subject.
He, however, was certain that the State government would hold an enquiry into the cause of riots and the conduct of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) and the District officials.
