Nobel literature Prize on Oct 11
The 2007 Nobel Prize for literature will be announced on October 11, the Swedish Academy said on Friday, with literary circles already speculating wildly over who the winner could be, AFP reports from Stockholm.

The permanent secretary of the Academy, Horace Engdahl, is scheduled to make the announcement in Stockholm on Friday at 1:00 pm (1630 IST).

In line with tradition, the Academy gave no indication of its choice.

Among experts and punters the guessing game is in full swing. Some say the Swedish Academy will go with a dark horse, while others say it will be a favourite.

The Nobel season starts with the announcement in Stockholm of the prize for medicine on Monday, to be followed by the physics prize on Tuesday the chemistry prize on Wednesday and the literature prize on Thursday.

JLo affair slowed down career: Ben
Ben Affleck, who famously dated Jennifer Lopez, has blamed his high-profile romance with the Hollywood’s highest paid Hispanic actress for slowing down his career, PTI reports from New York.

“What happens is this sort of bleed-over from the tabloids across your movie work. I ended up in an unfortunate cross hair position where I was in a relationship and (the media) mostly lied and inflated a bunch of salacious stuff...

“And I paid a certain price for that. Then, in concert with some movies that didn’t work...,” Ben said.
However, he is back with his directorial debut, Gone Baby Gone, and a low-key family life with wife Jennifer Garner and their daughter Violet.

Spears has double role in music video
Troubled singer Britney Spears, who is trying to make a comeback, has a dual role in the music video of her new song Gimme More, IANS reports from Los Angeles.

The four-minute video has Spears playing a sexy brunette pole dancer and a curious blonde watching her.
Spears is dressed in all black and is sporting a tattoo. She is also wearing a leather vest, a studded belt and skimpy underwear over ripped fishnet stockings.

The video was shot over two days and was directed by first timer Jake Sarfaty who was picked by Spears who came up with the concept.

Charlie Sheen sends ex-wife abusive emails
Hollywood actor Charlie Sheen has humiliated ex-wife Denise Richards in a series of scathing, abusive emails, IANS reports from New York.

In one mail to Richards, he wrote: “Go cry to your bald mom, you loser.”

In another one, he wrote: “You are a pig. A sad, jobless pig who is talentless and evil and a bad mom, so go f*** yourself sad jobless pig."

In yet another one, he said: "You are an evil piece of s***. I can’t wait to tell the world what a piece of s*** you are. You don’t get a f****** dime till this is resolved.”

Appearing in court for the couple’s custody battle over their children, Richards said the barb about her mother hurt her because she is undergoing chemotherapy treatment for cancer.

Lohan falls for Bono’s son
Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan has fallen for Chesare, the son of former singer Sonny Bono, IANS reports from New York.

Lohan met Chesare in rehab. Chesare, 19, was in rehab for painkiller addiction and friends say the two are involved.

A source said: “Chez is telling pals that he and Lindsay have fallen for each other big time. They plan on moving in with one another just as soon as they get out of rehab. He is telling people they spend every moment they can together and lean on each other for comfort.”

Longoria finds strangers in her trailer
Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria was shocked to find two strangers in her trailer, IANS reports from New York.

Longoria found two women using the bathroom in her trailer.

The women explained that they had wandered off a tour at the studios and needed to use the bathroom so they used Longoria’s when they found the trailer was not locked.

Longoria then met security and she was told that the tourists were mistaken for extras on the set of Desperate Housewives.
