The Union Food Ministry’s department of consumer affairs will extend a financial grant to set up a chair on “consumer law and practice” at Bangalore’s National Law School of India University (NLSIU).
The objective of setting up the chair is to promote research and policy issues relating to consumer law and practices and also develop consumer affairs as a distinct subject for study at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
MoU signed
Joint secretary in the department of consumer affairs Sanjay Singh and NLSIU Vice Chancellor Jayagovind singed a MoU here on Friday in the presence of Union Agriculture and Food Minister Sharad Pawar. The department of consumer affairs will provide grant of Rs. 90 lakh to the NLSIU to meet the annual recurring cost of the chair, besides Rs 15 lakh as initial cost of setting up the Chair.
