Yet another title went Karnataka’s way as host bowlers Pratima Hegde, Girish Gaba and Vijay Punjabi teamed up to win the mixed trio event in the inaugural tenpin bowling National team championship at the Star City bowling centre here on Friday.
The trio carried their brilliant work into the second day of their event and eventually totalled 3504 pinfalls to lift the title ahead of the Tamil Nadu team of Sabeena, Dinesh and Parvez, who tallied 3352 pinfalls.
For the second day running, the champion team rode on the brilliance of National champion Punjabi, who netted two double century scores in the fourth and fifth games en route to their triumph.
Pratima and Gaba complemented well as former too went past 200 mark twice, while Gaba crossed that mark once in the day in the fifth game.
Another Karnataka team of Sheela, Srinath and Anto settled for the third position with 3115 pinfalls to keep the first batch top three standings intact.
In the men’s ‘all events’ tally, Punjabi remains on top with a total of 3729 pinfalls after 18 games, while in the women’s section Pratima continues to be in the lead with 3251 pinfalls from 18 games.
