Bangalore, DHNS:

The High Court on Friday admitted a PIL challenging the exclusion of blind persons from the selections to the posts of assistant teachers in Government Primary Schools of the State.

The petition by National Federation of the Blind, Mysore Unit  sought the Court to direct Government to issue fresh notification providing opportunity for qualified blind persons to participate in the recruitment.
Government advocate B Srinivasa Gowda contended that Disabilities Act provided for exclusion of blind persons in respect of certain category of posts. The Division Bench headed by Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph admitted the petition for  hearing.
