The Adavichancha’s are a type of tribals who rely entirely upon the forest and its products for their living. Their chief occupations include collecting and selling of bee hives, catching Iguanas and selling them, cutting woods from the forest and selling them and so on.
These tribals stayed in Narasimha Swamy Hill till recently about 20 Adavichanchas families came down to stay in Hanumanthapur village. After coming over here, they have continued their occupations including selling hens, eggs, and some local fruits near schools and so on.
These tribals do not possess their own houses. Though the government has built for them 10 houses, they are not enough.
Another feature of these tribals is their friendly nature with animals too. Today, only 10 children have taken up studies and no others are educated.
They speak Tamil and Telugu mixed language which is called the ‘Adavichancha language’.
After their stay in the village they too have developed a mixed culture, wherein they participate in the village fairs, perform poojas to village Goddesses such as Muthyalamma, Gangamma, Mariyamma and so on.
These tribals, who are very poor cannot even afford to three meals a day.
They cannot take up agriculture as they do not possess their own lands. Some vested interests have been thwarting their desire to have their own lands, they say.
They are now looking for the government aid in providing them their own lands, houses, education to children and so on.
