No move to withdraw gun license in Kodagu dist
DH News Service, Madikeri:

There is no proposal to withdraw gun license of Jamma bane holders before the police department, clarified Kodagu Superintendent of Police Dr K V Trilokchandra.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, he said that there is no truth in the statement made by MLC C S Arun Machaiah that “the district police are contemplating to cancel the licenses of Jamma bane holders.”
“The MLC would have received wrong information from some source,” the SP said and added that “the rule that checking gun and the license by the police existed since many years and it is part of Gun Act. Prevention of illegal guns and arms is the reason behind such a move.”

Replying to a query on the public request that there was no need to renew the license of gun holders (Jamma bane holders) every year as they have the right since ages, the SP said that he would look into the matter.

Security for Dasara
All steps have been taken in the wake of Madikeri and Talacauvery Theerthodbava, Dr Trilokchandra said and added that the services of the external police force may be obtained, if needed.

On non-visit of Superintendent of Police or deputy commissioner to Bemmatthi in South Kodagu region (where there was some disturbance some time ago), the SP said that there was no need to blow up the issue as the situation has been calmed and the accused have been arrested.

Mobile vehicle
To ease the traffic in Madikeri, mobile traffic services will be soon started in Madikeri, he informed.

He also said that the police department has sent a proposal to construct new buildings fro Napoklu and Virajpet police stations.  “Once the government gives its nod, the work will be started,” Dr Trilokchandra said.

He also said that the police have been collecting fines against those riders who have been using mobile phones while riding/driving.
