Held for rape bid

A guest landed in police net for trying to molest his hosts daughter...

 
Police said Ilayaraja (35), a native of Tamil Nadu, met Swaminathan, a resident of Kuvempunagar slum in Gangammanagudi. He was frustrated in life after having parted with his wife. He narrated his story to Swaminathan, who took pity and found him a job at a tile factory where he worked. He also allowed Ilayaraja to stay in his house.

On Sunday, Ilayaraja told Swaminathan he would stay at home. When Swaminathan went to the factory, he seized the opportunity and tried to molest Swaminathan’s daughter, who is a minor.

When she cried for help, neighbours rushed and caught Ilayaraj. They later handed him over to the police.

2 held for rob bid
Cubbon Park police arrested two students of Baldwin School on charges of trying to rob two persons and recovered cellphones worth Rs 15,000 from them. They are: Farhan Ali (16), a PU student, and Syed Agas (15), an SSLC student, both residents of Neelasandra.

According to the police, the duo accosted Nishant Saxena and Indraneel Ray Chaudhari on Church Street and tried to snatch their cellphones. When they cried for help, the night patrol police rushed to the spot and caught them.

Held for kidnapping
Chandra Layout police arrested an autorickshaw driver on charges of kidnapping a minor girl. He has been identified as Afsar Ali Khan alias Appu Khan, a resident of Chandra extension area.

According to the police, Rajashekhar, a resident of Chandra extension area, lodged a complaint with the police saying his 16-year-old daughter did not return home. Later, it was learnt the girl eloped with Khan.

They entered into a wedlock at MM Hills and moved to a village near Madikeri. Police traced them, arrested Khan and handed over the girl to her parents.
