DD chief denies charges
Bangalore, dhns: Doordarshan Kendra, Bangalore, director Dr Mahesh Joshi has termed allegations levelled against him by M Nagendra Swamy, director and head regional news unit, AIR, Bangalore, “false and fabricated”. In a statement, Joshi said he was at a public function on Saturday from 11.30 am to 3 pm organised to pay tribute to Dadi Prakash Mani of Brahmakumaris at Jnanajyothi Auditorium. He has given a complaint to JC Nagar police in this regard.
However, JC Nagar police said it was not a complaint, but an informal report stating he had not threatened Nagendra Swamy. Swamy had complained to Cubbon Park police saying Joshi called him on Saturday and threatened and abused him in foul language for writing a letter to Prasar Bharati CEO regarding “inadequate coverage” of Bharat Nirman programme by Bangalore DD.
Parvatamma’s mite
Bangalore, dhns: As many as 34 teachers from across the State were felicitated by Genius Productions in association with VMC Trust on Sunday in recognition of their services. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Rajkumar Trust president Parvathamma Rajkumar emphasised the role of women and teachers in building the nation. She gave Rs 1 lakh to the organisation on behalf of Vajreshwari Combines.
JC meet for peace
Members of Bangalore chapter of Junior Chamber International India joined hands for world peace on Sunday. The organisation held a candle-light meet near Mahatma Gandhi statue. The meet was inaugurated by Master Kishan, the youngest film director of India. JCI is a federation of young leaders working to contribute to the advancement of global community.
