Preparations are well under way for the elections of two City Municipal Corporations, three Town Municipal Corporations, and town panchayats which will be held on September 28, said Deputy Commissioner Subodh Yadav on Saturday.
As many as 201 polling booths has been arranged for the elections of six local bodies in 146 wards. Out of these, 78 have been considered sensitive booths, 93 as most sensitive booths, the Deputy Commissioner said while speaking to the Media.
Already 15 election officers, 15 deputy officers and six Tahsildars have been appointed as poll observers, he said.
Police deployed
There are 1,75,503 voters in the district out of which 88,700 are males and 86,803 are female voters. Measures have been taken for safe polls and additional police from Kolar will be deployed, Mr Subodh Yadav said.
Home guards will also be deployed, he added.
New Offices
Officials from Kolar district will work for the polls of the new district as Chikkaballapur does not possess a full fledged office to work and also added that after the election, there will be a full fledged office in Chikkaballapur.
Office of the Joint Director of Agriculture department, Youth Services and Sports department, Superintendent of Police, Zilla Panchayat, Social Welfare department, Lokayukta, adult education will function, the Deputy Commissioner added.
