There seems to be little interest among the voters about the elections to local bodies. As the deadline nears not much activity is seen in Chickballapur.

The below par performance of the elected representatives over the years has dampened the spirits of the voters.
This is the major reason why voters in Chikkaballapur are not even bothered to know who is contesting in the elections.

People say that most of the elected members were only interested in their welfare rather than their wards’. People are fed up with the gimmicks, partiality and politics in the local bodies.

No gimmick
In the last two elections, the political leaders had supplied water to localities the moment they saw the reservation list. However, this time they have stopped the gimmick knowing fully well that the voters are unhappy about them.

Money making
Most of the leaders are busy meeting the prominent leaders and thereby preparing political strategies.
Unfortunately, most of the aspiring candidates seem to be more interested in the prospect of making money in the name of public service.

A few of them are interested in entering the fray just to boost their political career.

Direct fight
There is a direct fight between Congress and JD (S) in the City at the local body polls.

Both the Congress and JD (S) are busy finalising their candidates in all the 31 wards.

Meanwhile, many independents are also planning to enter the field.

One will have to wait and watch before knowing who the voter will bless in the election.
