DH News Service, Mangalore:

Yenepoya Hospital has launched five specialities including ‘Centre for kidney diseases,’ ‘Centre for joint replacement,’ ‘Centre for neuro surgery,’ ‘Centre for cranio facial surgery’ and ‘ENT centre.’

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Hospital Director (Medical) Dr Muhammad Thahir said that to support the advanced work in the super speciality centres, the Hospital has upgraded operation theatre with laminar flow, intensive care unit with more beds and laboratory with advanced equipment besides strengthening supporting services like nursing.

Night dialysis
Senior Nephrologist Dr Jagadeesh said the Hospital has four state of the art Haemodialysis machines imported from Germany and a state of the art water treatment plant complete with reverse osmosis, softener, UV light and pyrogen filter.

He also said that the Hospital with immediate effect will start regular night dialysis. “Since most of the patients have to undergo dialysis thrice a week, it affects the timings of working people. Hence, the Hospital is starting night dialysis to help the patients,” he said and added that the dialysis fee will remain the same irrespective of day or night.

Orthopaedic surgeon Dr Deepak Rai said that the management is working towards making the joint replacement within the reach of the common men without compromising on the international standards. Neuro surgeon Dr Arjun Shetty said that all cranio facial surgeries performed in the hospital attract patients from neighbouring states.

“The centre is supported by a German Foundation and treatment is given free of cost to poor people,” he said. Dr Thahir also said that more units are in the pipeline and will be launched in future.
