Dance from Sri Lanka
The battle-torn island nation, Sri Lanka, is strongly wooing the Indian business community . MICE (Meeting, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions )  is the new initiative of the Sri Lankan Convention Bureau which had its roadshow in Bangalore last week (Thursday).

A strong team of 40 Sri Lankans, including hotel representatives, tour operators and officials of the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau headed by Prema Cooray, had day long interaction with select corporate leaders of the city and the evening at the Taj West End saw a feast of Sri Lankan culture and cuisine. The highlight of the party was sensuous dances by a group of Sri Lankan girls dressed in blue, the island nation’s traditional costumes.

Cassette released
The Foundation for Restoring Human Dignity (FORHD) kicked off a three-month series of events under the banner ‘Art for a cause’ aimed at raising funds, with the release of the audio cassette of Kannada movie stars Upendra and Darshan’s new movie ‘Antharu’ at Ambedkar Bhavan on September 6. The cassette was released by destitute and distressed children rehabilitated by FORHD.

Upendra and the movie’s producer Muniratna pledged to donate the proceeds from the first shows on the first day at Nartaki theatre to FORHD. The movie is scheduled to be released later this month.

Zapak launches Gameplex
Zapak Digital Entertainment Ltd, an online gaming portal, has launched its first self-owned Gameplex in the city recently at Fraser Town (Mosque Road). The interiors of the Gameplex, with a 50-seater capacity, are made in sync with the dynamics of the gaming culture. The launch was by popular actress Pooja Gandhi.

“With the launch of Zapak Gameplex, we endeavour to reach out to the youth in India to enhance their gaming skills with a fun and exciting platform for them to express themselves.” says Rohit Mehra, COO, Zapak Digital. The Gameplex will have 85 LAN games which includes the Counter Strike (the top online game in the world) and ES Sport’s FIFA which is available exclusively with Zapak.  Membership cards with denominations of Rs 50, Rs.100, Rs 250, Rs 500 and Rs 1000 will be available for the gamers against which they can access their accounts regularly. The gameplex will have a store manager and 4 game jockeys to assist the gamers.
