There was mild tension at the residence of Andhra Pradesh Revenue Minister D Prasad Rao in Banjara Hills here, when hundreds of workers of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) tried to lay siege to his home on Sunday. Policemen posted at the Ministers’ Colony prevented the CPM workers from doing so.
They were physically removed in police vans on Sunday morning.
In the melee, three policemen, including a sub-inspector, and eight CPM workers sustained minor injuries, when they were bodily lifted from the road.
An injured woman activist was taken to the hospital.
Hundreds of CPM workers including women arrived at the Ministers’ Colony. The activists shouted slogans demanding house sites, police said.
Over 200 CPM activists were taken into custody when they tried to proceed towards the minister’s house, they said.
