Activists including veteran journalist Kuldeep Nayyar and Swami Agnivesh will hold silent demonstrations across the country on Monday to protest the frequent disruptions of Parliament causing delay in passing important laws.
The protest in New Delhi will be led by Swami Agnivesh, Mr Nayyar and former Chief Justice of Delhi High Court Rajinder Sachar at Jantar Mantar, the hotspot of protests in the capital.
‘People disgraced’
Religious leaders, students, and social activists will participate in the one-hour protest here, Agnivesh said.
“People of India feel disgraced by the frequent disruptions of Parliament. A day’s disruption is causing Rs 90 lakh to the exchequer and many laws like the one on the unorganised labourers are getting delayed,” he claimed.
Protests will also be held in other places including Chennai, Ranchi, Indore and Chandigarh.
