An elderly woman who was stranded in London airport for five days while on her way to the national capital from New York has been awarded compensation of over Rs 5 lakh by a consumer forum that held British Airways guilty of deficiency in service.
The woman was the victim of the “whims” of airline staffers as accommodation or assistance was not provided to her, the New Delhi District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum comprising President K K Chopra and members R K Manchanda and Neeru Mittal said in their recent order.
“BA should have made arrangements for her stay at their own expense. The complainant was not even guided as to from where the purchases should be made.”
