Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Naseem Ashraf has broken his silence on the shameful brawl between pacers Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif in South Africa and constituted a three-member committee to probe the incident.
Ashraf also asked Akhtar and other members of the Pakistan team to keep mum on the issue until the probe was completed and findings were released.
Pakistan cricket was rocked again this week when Akhtar and Asif had a brawl during a practice session at the Centurion in the run-up to the Twenty20 World Cup.
During the brawl, Akhtar struck Asif with a bat on his left thigh and after a complaint was lodged with team manager Talat Ali the temperamental bowler was sent back home.
Akhtar, however, claimed at a news conference on Saturday that he had not hit Asif intentionally and it was just an accident.
