Stressing on quality improvement in education, Higher Education Minister D H Shankaramurthy on Sunday, said that funds to the tune of Rs 2.5 crore had been collected from NRIs during his recent visit to US.
Speaking at the launch of MBA programme in Banking and Finance by SAP-K Business School in association with University of Mysore, he said the funds would be used for faculty upgradation programme and in providing technical support for the colleges in the State.
World Bank aid
Mr Shankaramurthy said that last year, World Bank granted a loan of Rs 130 crore for engineering colleges in the State and this year too the State is expecting aid from World Bank.
On the occasion, Mysore University Vice Chancellor Prof J Shashidhara Prasad said that there is a wide scope for MBA in insurance and the university is willing to support if SAP-K initiate the programme.
He said that around 1,400 international students are studying in the University of Mysore and also several outreach programmes are conducted in various parts of the State.
“In Uttar Pradesh, 10 Post Graduate courses has been started and we have received requisition from Bihar. IT major IBM has recruited around 1,400 B Sc graduates from our university,” he said, adding the university has plans to start online programmes for Utopia and other parts in Africa after receiving requisition from UNESCO.
