The overflowing hall was an ample testimony to the popularity of Sudha.
The concert commenced with an atatala varnam followed by Swaminatha (natta). A brief alapana in the raga mandari for the kriti Athisayavara Prasadini had the quintessence of the raga flowing in it. The concert leapt into vigour and verve in the ragam tanam pallavi in the tisra jati ata tala in todi ragam.
Since the words for the pallavi were Sri Krishna Ghanam, she concluded the raga malika swaras with one line from the compositions of Othukadu Venkatakavi’s songs, a very interesting touch. The sally between the mridangist- Kuzhal Mannan Ramakrishnan (Guinness Book Record Holder) and Ghatam by Dr S Karthik was such as to rivet attention. The ghatam player has an art of producing the shaded sound by covering and uncovering the mouth of the ghatam to various degrees. Violinist Raghavendra Rao was pleasant and continuous.
