Minister's Assurance to Maharani College
Higher Education Minister D H Shankaramurthy has assured the Maharani College management that his department would consider the demand for separate buildings for arts and commerce streams.
He was responding to the demands made by the college administration during a cultural event organised in the college premises on Monday.
It demanded for more group ‘D’ and group ‘C’ employees to maintain cleanliness of the college premises. The management asked for OHP, LCD and laptops for quality education. The college management said, there is acute shortage of faculties in the college.
Pay revision welcomed
Bangalore University College Teachers’ Association (BUCTA) has welcomed the constitution of UGC Pay Revision Committee under the Chairmanship of Dr Chadda, Economic advisor to the Prime Minister.
The committee was set up by the Prime Minister following a nation-wide protest by university and college teachers on September 5.
The teachers were protesting against the Central Government for not appointing a committee..
‘Nemmadi’ for rural students
Rural students can avail online CET coaching and English training at Nemmadi centres now. Two educational programmes CET Karnataka and Refine English, to be offered at 750 Nemmadi centres in 28 districts of Karnataka through satellite network, were launched on Monday.
The satellite network will provide a two-way communication and create a virtual classroom, where students and faculty can interact with each-other.
