“BJP strongly opposes mid-term polls,” said State BJP President Sadananda Gowda.
Addressing a press meet here on Monday, he said “we are confident of winning required majority votes, even then we are against the mid-term polls as it is a heavy burden for state exchequer. BJP is giving more importance to local body polls. This is the first time opportunity for our party to face the polls as the party is in power.”
He said “every constituency will be given equal importance and we are also confident of winning more than 50 per cent seats in the local body polls. We are also against seeking support or lending support to Congress and Communist parties,” he added.
Answering a query on the transfer of power to BJP, Mr Gowda said that the process of transferring the power will take place smoothly according to the agreement between Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa. Devegowda deserves no right to interfere as he was against this coalition from the beginning, he added.
He said he will urge the CM to convene a co-ordination committee meeting at the earliest. BJP manifesto will be released at the state-level on September 13, he added.
MLA Raghupathy Bhat, Kota Srinivas Poojary, Kadapady Shankar Poojary, Thingley Vikramarjuna Hegde and others were present at the press meet.
