Yakshagana Academy will come into force on November 1 in Udupi. Senior Yakshagana artist Kumble Sundar Rao will be its President, said Medical Education Minister Dr V S Acharya.  Speaking after conferring ‘Sheni award’ to Chipparu Krishnaiah Ballal, he said Chief Minister and Kannada and Culture Minister has given in principle approval.

A proposal has been submitted to the government to provide monthly honourarium of Rs 1,000 for the artist and Rs 1 crore grant for the Kanaka Peeta in Udupi.
