Coorg’s another young blood Lokesh, who was serving as a havaldar in Indian army at Jammu was killed in an accident on Sunday night. He was 27.
The deceased soldier hailed from Gonikoppalu and is the son of an anganwadi worker Jayalakshmi. Lokesh had been serving in the army for the past 10 years, who was promoted as a havaldar of infantry just two months back. The Infantry Commandar conveyed the news to the soldier’s sister Ramya, who resides in Bangalore during the wee hours of Monday.
Beong aware of the incident, Lokesh’s mother Jayalakshmi has rushed to Bangalore. The body of the soldier will reach Bangalore through a flight in the night on Monday, which will be taken to Gonikoppalu by 10 am on Tuesday, sources said.
Lokesh had been to his native place just two months back to attend the funeral of one of his relatives. The deceased soldier’s house here is now stuck in grief and silence. Lokesh was an excellent sportsman, and was the main player of the volleyball team.
