Heavy rains cause damage
Chikkaballapur, DHNS:

As many as three houses have collapsed in Thimmegowda lake area after heavy rains lashed the district on Saturday.

Also water from drains gushed into the houses of the many houses causing severe problems to the residents. Nearly 108 millimetres of rainfall was recorded on Saturday. Many electronic equipments such as TV, Refrigerators and Computers are destroyed. Also foodgrains, books and others also got wet in heavy rains which entered houses.

The Timmegowda lake region is a very low lying area and there is no proper facility for the smooth flow of water. There are also stones and other building materials which are dumped here to build a commercial complex which is the main reason for blockage.

The CMC staff who came on Saturday, cleared the path by taking away these building materials.

The residents of this area expressed their dissatisfaction over the ignorance of the elected representatives. They have also demanded a compensation for Jalarappa, Muttappa and Muniraju who were residing in old houses and also to build them a new house under Ashraya or any other scheme, said village leaders Balaraju and Venkatesh.
