Addressing reporters in Bangalore, leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council H K Patil alleged that though reservation roster has been changed after September 4, when the State Election Commission announced the calender of events, the government has issued a pre-dated gazette notification.
The fact that the government did not furnish the changes in reservation to the Commission till September 8, is a proof enough that changes were made after the announcement of the elections, he stated.
“The Commission should take it seriously. It should ensure that the old reservation roster is followed in all these 63 urban local bodies,” he demanded.
According to Mr Patil, reservation roster related to two wards of Hubli-Dharwad city corporation, 10 wards of Hassan City Municipal Council, five wards of Anekal CMC and many others have been changed.
DISQUALIFICATION OF MLAS
Leader of Opposition in Legislative Assembly Dharam Singh, on Monday, said that the Congress will soon appeal to the governor Rameshwar Thakur to direct assembly speaker Krishna to give ruling on a petition seeking disqualification of 39 MLAs including chief minister H D Kumaraswamy.
CPI(M) member G V Srirama Reddy and Kannada Chalavali Vatal party member Vatal Nagaraj had filed a petition seeking disqualification of 39 JD(S) MLAs when they went out of the then Congress-JD(S) coalition to form government with the BJP. Mr Reddy and Nagaraj also filed a similar petition before Karnataka High Court in March 2006. But the court asked the petitioners to approach the speaker.
