Gowda’s quota mantra slammed
Bangalore, dhns: Congress leader B Janardhana Poojary criticised the internal reservation mantra of former prime minister H D Deve Gowda as a bid to favour his community (Vokkaliga). He was speaking at the inauguration of Brahmashri Narayan Guru Mandira and foundation laying for a women’s hostel, organised by the Billava Association at Hulimavu, here on Sunday.
Gowda’s internal reservation drama is aimed at finishing the Kuruba and Idiga communities and their leaders Siddaramaiah and R L Jalappa respectively, charged Mr Poojary, adding there is nothing wrong if reservation is according to the population size of a community. However, Gowda’s ploy was to ensure only Vokkaliga and Banajiga communities come under 3A category of backward classes list.
“It is okay to decimate individuals but why target entire communities,” he questioned. On arrack ban, Poojary said the government may be euphoric but the ban has failed. The poor have only switched over from cheap liquor to costly liquor.
