It is possible for a tahsildar to work even outside the confines of the law and render humanitarian services is what I have learnt in my tenure as Pavagada taluk tahsildar, said A P Ramakrishna.
He was replying to the felicitations organised by various associations and said that when people were still innocent in the taluk, then it becomes inevitable to go to the middleman. In such a situation, the revenue department officials have to go out of their way to render service, he added.
He said that he could never forget his tenure in Pavagada taluk as he was able to get cooperation for his plans and projects. Whenever he faced a problem the organisations and associations had come forward to encourage him, he recalled.
Nagabhushan Sharma who presided said, officials will come and go because that is the part of the job of being in the government. But what is important is whether they have left their stamp behind which people can recall with fondness and Ramakrishna has been able to achieve that.
Dr K M Prabhakar, Narasimhamurthy, Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Sannanagappa, Rotary president Vishwanath, Suma Ananda Rao and Veeranna also spoke. Rotary club secretary N C Nagabhushan proposed a vote of thanks.
