She was addressing a public meeting organised by the various the women’s organisations here on Friday to mark Belgaum bundh. The bundh was observed in protest against the supari killings by the Pravin Shintre gang, which killed many people including two women in Belgaum, recently. She said, the brutal supari murders of housewife Sheetal Chougale and school teacher Razia Badebhai would not have taken place, if the Government had not set him free. The police should expedite their investigation process into the killings and initiate measures to arrest Pravin Shintre at the earliest.
She questioned as to how the Government could set free a criminal like Shintre and said, the present government should take up an inquiry into the circumstances that led to his release by the previous home minister and home secretary. The police should also launch an inquiry into all the incidents he was involved and make the people aware of his crimes.
Many ‘secret’ hands and influential lobbies in the Government previously had worked in promoting Shintre, which rose him to notoriety.
She demanded the police to handover Shintre to agitators so that they could stone him to death.
One more woman raped?
Belguam, DHNS:
Claiming to be the members of Pravin Shintre gang, a group of four persons allegedly raped a 32-year-old married woman at Tilakwadi, Belgaum, recently.
The incident has come to light at a time when several organisations had declared Belgaum bundh, on Friday urging for arrest of Shintre and protesting against his supari killing.
The woman, told a TV news channel on Friday, that the group had kidnapped her near a school in an autorickshaw, at Tilakwadi last week.
The group took her away from the city and raped her, she alleged.
